چکیده
Abstract Aim BAHA implants utilise bone conduction to treat hearing loss. The aim of the study was understand complication rate patients receiving implant compared other studies and identify any causative factor. Recommendations would therefore be made reduce these complications. Methodology A retrospective cohort undertaken on 134 who received a performed by single surgeon at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust between 01/01/2016 31/12/2018. Data collected identified complications surgery, whether or not abutment still in situ patient had comorbidities history smoking Results 33.6% no after surgery with remaining 66.4% having least one complication. connect devices 67.2% rate, attract 33% rate. 13.6% BAHAs were extruded. There positive correlation either diabetes poorer Conclusion Implant extrusion can prevented irrigation cooling drill site. Immobilisation implant, proper wound care brushing using an Allevyn Acticoat 7 dressing improves outcomes. Attract systems have fewer rates so must maximised where appropriate.

Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA)
Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA). The bone anchored hearing aid or BAHA is a small vibrator that can be reversibly plugged onto a titanium screw that is implanted behind the ear. It transduces sound into vibration of the screw and stimulates the cochleae by means of the bone conduction pathway. The main indications are conductive hearing loss or mixed hearing loss with a moderate perceptive co...

Bone-Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) has proven performance and advantages for patients with aural atresia or chronic ear drainage who cannot wear air-conduction hearing aids. The BAHA has both cosmetic and acoustic advantages over most conventional hearing aids and hence is becoming increasingly popular. Moreover, BAHA improves the quality of life and has also significantly reduces ear discharge. ...

Questionnaire A consisted of questions that compared patients' previous hearing aid with the BAHA. Questionnaire B consisted of questions about the patients' experiences with the hearing aids. PATIENTS Sixty-five consecu...

OBJECTIVE To investigate microbiological biofilm contamination of retrieved bone-anchored hearing aids. MATERIALS AND METHODS Nine failed, retrieved bone-anchored hearing aids and 16 internal screws were examined by scanning electron microscopy. A fixture from a failing implant, which had been removed and disassembled under aseptic conditions, was cultured. Finally, an internal screw from a n...
